Weatherization Assistance Program
Goal: To make energy efficiency improvements to homes of eligible low-income households (200% of federal poverty guidelines) to offset heating and cooling consumption. Weatherizing for the long-term helps reduce utility bills year after year.
Weatherization Assistance Program American Recovery & Reinvestment Act (ARRA)
Blount County Community Action Agency – Weatherization Assistance Program has received an additional $1,260,904 through the American Recovery & Reinvestment Act (ARRA) for the grant period of June 9, 2009 through March 31, 2011(or until funds are expended). This will enable Blount County Community Action Agency to weatherize a minimum of 269 eligible homes in addition to those weatherized under our regular program.
Client Applications & Eligibility:
Blount County residents living at or below (200% of federal poverty guidelines) are eligible for Weatherization Assistance according to a Priority Point System. This system provides a way to evaluate and select which clients can be served and in what order. Priority is given to elderly and disabled low income persons, low income families with children under the age of six years, and high energy consuming homes. Persons interested in applying for assistance should contact Blount County Community Action Agency for an appointment and application.
