SENIOR NUTRITION PROGRAM: Mobile Meals: Provides midday meal Monday through Friday to homebound seniors (age 60+) who are unable to prepare meals for themselves. OFFICE ON AGING:
Provides a variety of informational services for senior citizens, family members and caregivers who assist seniors. Counseling on Medicare choices, including prescription drug plans. Some limited homemaker services for frail, low-income elderly. Publishes Service Directory for Older Citizens, a free comprehensive resource guide to services for Blount County seniors. |

LOW INCOME HOME ENERGY ASSISTANCE PROGRAM: LIHEAP provides annual one-time assistance with home energy costs to qualifying low-income households. The Energy Crisis Intervention component provides services to households which are subject to life-threatening conditions without immediate intervention to address their critical energy-related needs. |

| WEATHERIZATION PROGRAM: Makes energy efficiency improvements to homes to offset heating and cooling consumption. Weatherizing for the long-term helps reduce utility bills year after year. COMMUNITY SERVICE BLOCK GRANT PROGRAM: CSBG services to qualifying low-income (125% of federal poverty guidelines) households include the following components: EMERGENCY SERVICES provides utility assistance and meets various other emergency needs on a case-by-case basis. HOUSE REPAIR purchases materials for volunteers to make basic home repairs, add safety devices, and build wheelchair ramps. INCOME TAX ASSISTANCE prepares tax returns and e-filing is done for free by IRS-trained volunteers. Funding for CSBG provided by Tennessee Department of Human Services. HOUSE AND HOME PROGRAMS: Grants and loans are used to rehabilitate homes bringing them into compliance with the International Building Code. Enables people to stay in their homes and remain independent. Priority given to elderly or disabled low income homeowners. Funding provided by Tennessee Housing Development Agency. |

COMMODITY PROGRAM: U. S. Department of Agriculture surplus foods are distributed to qualifying low-income (150% of poverty) households four times each year. A typical distribution provides 40-45 pounds of food to a household and may feature items such as rice, beans, peanut butter, soup, spaghetti, canned fruits and vegetables, powdered milk, nuts, dried fruit, etc. Next Commodity Distribution |

EMERGENCY ENERGY ASSISTANCE PROGRAMS: Emergency help with utility bills from various funding sources administered by BCCAA. Funding sources include the federal Emergency Food and Shelter Program and local utility company programs (Share The Warmth). Also, Utility deposits may be paid for qualified households depending on availability of funding. Income guidelines apply. |
