| Helping People. Changing Lives. | ||||||||||||||||||
| "Community Action changes people's lives, embodies the spirit of hope, improves communities, and makes America a better place to live. We care about the entire community, and we are dedicated to helping people help themselves and each other." | ||||||||||||||||||
| CAA HISTORY: The original Economic Opportunities Act of 1964, which provided for the establishment of community action agencies, specified that all plans and programs of a community action agency must be developed and implemented with the maximum feasible participation of the residents of the areas and members of the groups served. CAA BOARD: To this end, the Blount County Community Action Agency has a governing board comprised of public, private and low-income sectors of the community. The BCCAA board consists of one-third local public officials or their designees, one-third representatives of low-income persons, and the remaining one-third is chosen from business, labor, religious, law enforcement, education or other groups in the community. |
